This is days late but I'm back to once again talk about my One Piece thoughts. Of course this entirely pertains to the manga (which I guess is clear from the chapter number and my reading tag on the post), so for anyone wanting to avoid spoilers this is not the post for you.
First off, the comedy was just divine. We have whole ass warriors, centuries old, being taken out by the PTSD of their moms scolding them for not doing their chores. Then we have Gaban being the world's proudest dad, bragging about his son at the most inopportune moment but gosh darn it if he isn't happy as hell. And the cherry on top of all this chaos is Gunko finally letting her Soul King stan flag fly in the most Celestial Dragon ass way possible. Sister telling Brook that he is gonna be her slave that only makes music for her? Oda heard me and my friend talking about how we wanted Gunko to fangirl over Brook last chapter and he clearly took it to heart nfjdkfn
I also just love the juxtaposition of how there is all this chaos happening in the Sun Realm, meanwhile Luffy and his boyfriends are chilling with the New Giant Pirates in the Underworld observing Loki's dynamic with the NGP and wondering all the history there.
I know it feels like very chapter OP manga readers are talking about how Elbaf is finally popping off or how shit is really getting good, but it really does feel like that with every chapter. So many years and chapters of buildup has gone into getting to Elbaf and now the crew is here and we've met the left hand/wing of the former Pirate King, 1138 gave us the Harley texts and the mural and then we're having new and powerful Devil Fruit users to take down on top of it.
Summers' entire speech about love this chapter was really something too. The way 'love' is at the core theme of his character and how sadistic his views are is such a stark contrast to characters like Luffy and Sanji who are both 'love'-centered characters in their own unique ways. So if there is going to be any match ups, it's going to have to be with either of them. Honestly I would love to see Luffy and Sanji pair up to fight a villain, it would mean everything TO ME PERSONALLY.
I know it's a popular theory that we're going to find out that Gunko is actually a spy or double agent or otherwise being forced against her will to do the bidding of the Celestials and I'm not opposed to it. But I'm also completely down to have another female villain who is simply just a classist asshole. After all, Gunko and Shamrock are the only two characters introduced recently that are Celestial dragons that don't have Saint in their name and I doubt Oda would just forget. So I am curious about that... Guess we have to wait and see, but I have seen a theory proposed that it could be due to Shamrock's mother that he doesn't have it because he is potentially not a pure blooded world noble. It'll probably be a while before we get the full Shanks and Shamrock backstory though *sigh*
In unrelated to the chapter OP news, has anyone seen that new Borussia Dortmund x One Piece collab video on the official youtube channel? First the Lakers and now this? We love to see One Piece thrive. I swear, the days the One Piece is revealed and the series ends are going to be the two biggest days in pop culture history. Yes, I said 'two'. I'm pretty sure those are going to be two separate chapters and I am going to cry my ass off.
